Enel Announces Power Outages of Up to 7 Hours in Chile

In the Metropolitan Region, where Chile's capital Santiago is located, planned power outages will be implemented by the electricity distribution company Enel. It was announced that the outages will begin on Friday, 10 July and may last up to seven hours in some areas. The company stated that it organized this practice as part of maintenance and infrastructure works carried out to improve service quality. It was stated that a total of six different regions will be affected by these planned outages. Residents were notified that they can follow the details of the outages on Enel's official website.

According to the information shared by Enel, the areas that will experience power outages on Friday include Maipú, Estación Central, Santiago, Lo Prado, La Reina, and Las Condes. The company described these works as "activities carried out by Enel Distribución to improve service quality, perform maintenance, and connect new customers." Outages are planned at different time slots for each region, with the outage duration starting from three hours and going up to seven hours in some areas. The comprehensive work program is expected to directly affect the daily lives of regional residents. The company emphasized that it has provided the necessary information in advance to ensure customers are not inconvenienced.

According to the outage schedule, power in the Maipú area will be cut between 10:00 and 16:00. In Estación Central, the planned outage will start at 09:30 and end at 15:30. The central Santiago area will experience a power outage between 10:30 and 16:30. In the Lo Prado area, the outage is planned to start at 09:30 and end at 14:30. In the La Reina area, two separate outage periods will be applied between 10:00 and 17:00. In this context, La Reina stands out as the area affected by the outage for the longest duration in terms of hours.

On the other hand, the Las Condes area will experience a relatively shorter impact with the outage to be applied between 10:00 and 13:00. The company announced that the power outages are aimed at improving service quality in the upcoming winter season. Enel stated that planned maintenance and infrastructure improvement works aim to ensure that users receive uninterrupted and reliable electricity service in the long run. It was noted that such routine maintenance activities increase the performance of the electrical grid and facilitate new subscriber connections. The electric company suggested that customers can check the work schedule via its online platforms.

Citizens living in the affected areas were warned to take precautions against the planned power outages. In particular, it is recommended to charge electronic devices such as refrigerators, laptops, and mobile devices.
