Fierce Reaction from Coalition Partner MP to Rumors of Prime Minister Change in Thailand

Vacharaphol Khuwijitsuwanna, a Member of Parliament from Thailand's Saraburi province, called on the public to be cautious, claiming the existence of a systematic disinformation campaign aimed at overthrowing the government. The MP, a member of the Bhumjaithai Party, alleged that a smear campaign was being conducted against Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, with new disinformation news being fabricated every day. He stated that some groups seeking to sabotage the government's work are trying to create a negative perception by distorting every move made by the Prime Minister. Vacharaphol stated that such baseless news is intentionally spread to hinder the country's progress. The MP emphasized that the public should not fall for such manipulative news and must evaluate events with common sense.

Intra-government disagreements and rumors of a change in the Prime Minister are also among the most talked-about topics in recent Thai politics. Vacharaphol stated that news regarding a conflict between two different figures within the party ('N. Nu' and 'N. Ne') is completely unfounded. Furthermore, he pointed out that fabricated news has emerged, even involving fortune tellers, claiming that Prime Minister Anutin would be dismissed in July of this year. He argued that such claims make things easier for groups conducting political interest bargaining behind the scenes. Although it is alleged that a person whose first initial is 'S.' is planned to be appointed as the new prime minister, it was clearly stated that this situation lacks any legal basis. The MP added that such scenarios are incompatible with constitutional procedures and are served entirely to create chaos.

The current provisions of the Thai Constitution make such rumors of a prime ministerial change effectively impossible. Vacharaphol clearly stated that the constitution leaves no legal loopholes for such a sudden leadership change or appointment. He suggested that the main purpose of those spreading the rumors is to gain political advantage not through legal means, but through some interventions from outside the system. He warned that such illegal or unconstitutional methods could bring the country to the brink of a new crisis. The MP emphasized that the public needs to correctly understand constitutional processes and avoid opening the door to political instability with impulsive decisions. Stressing the importance of the legal framework, he stated that these constitutional realities cannot be ignored.

It is claimed that the real reason behind these harsh criticisms and smear campaigns against the government is the government's successful performance. Vacharaphol argued that Prime Minister Anutin's government has created commercial opportunities in the global market and is decisively combating drugs and transnational crimes. He noted that the government, demonstrating a clear stance in relations with neighboring countries, has also initiated a very serious fight against corruption. Thanks to these concrete achievements of the government; the existence of opposition groups and political movements that feed on corruption, benefit from it, or are prone to violence has been jeopardized. Therefore, he stated that the circles losing their interests have put every manipulation tool into operation to obstruct the government. He added to his words that these circles, wanting to weaken the government's legitimacy, are in a state of political jealousy and panic.

Finally, Vacharaphol Khuwijitsuwanna called on the Thai public to stand together and act with common sense. Stating that accepting every piece of incoming news without investigating and verifying it could have dangerous consequences, he argued for the need to increase media literacy. He emphasized that baseless news spread by malicious individuals should not be allowed to deepen social division and trigger political polarization. He noted that such fake news would distract the government's attention, thereby preventing the solution of the country's real problems and consequently harming the public. He added that a stable Thailand requires the cooperation of all segments of society and the normal functioning of the government. Ultimately, he warned all citizens that the political deadlock created by fake news would seriously slow down the country's economic and social development.
