Thai MP Chonnanpat released after DSI interrogation on international crime syndicate charges

Following the adjournment of the Thai House of Representatives on 11 July 2026, Klararatham Party MP Chonnanpat Naksu went to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and formally accepted the additional charges against him. His testimony, which had been postponed due to the immunity protection under Article 125 of the Constitution while parliamentary sessions were ongoing, could be taken once the parliamentary term closed.

Chonnanpat is one of the 27 suspects against whom a lawsuit was filed for allegedly being involved in an online illegal betting and money laundering network. As the investigation deepened and financial trails were found to extend abroad, the Chief Prosecutor's Office transferred the file to the DSI for examination under the scope of international crime. With this expanded investigation, the MP was formally notified of two new serious charges: triat and membership in an international crime syndicate.

It was reported that after the completion of his interrogation, Chonnanpat was not arrested and was released. DSI officials stated that the suspect voluntarily came in for questioning, has a fixed residence, and there is no suspicion of flight. The investigation team plans to conclude the legal process and submit the final report to the Special Prosecutor's Office.
