Comprehensive Disaster Training for Amasya University Personnel in Cooperation with AFAD

At Amasya University, an important training program was organized to increase the preparedness of academic and administrative personnel against disaster situations. Within the scope of the cooperation carried out with the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), information was provided to university employees regarding disaster awareness and intervention techniques. Such training is of great importance in terms of minimizing damage in possible natural disasters or emergencies and ensuring the safety of personnel. The university administration prioritizes training on such critical issues to contribute to the continuous development of personnel and a safe working environment. The event aims to create basic awareness on how participants should act during a disaster.

Within the scope of the training program, AFAD experts provided detailed explanations on what needs to be done during a disaster and correct intervention methods, as well as theoretical information. Participants were practically taught about the precautions to be taken and sheltering procedures against possible risk situations such as earthquakes, floods, and fires. It was emphasized that academic and administrative personnel would be responsible not only for ensuring their own safety in such emergencies but also for the safety of students and campus visitors. Increasing the disaster awareness of academic and administrative personnel is an important step that helps not only institutional security but also raising the level of disaster preparedness throughout the city. Consequently, this joint work carried out between Amasya University and AFAD can be evaluated as a concrete example of institutional disaster management plans. Equipping personnel through such training will ensure that life-saving measures are taken quickly and correctly in any emergency. Participants promised to share the knowledge they gained at the end of the training with their colleagues in their units to create a conscious network. The university administration announced that these supportive training activities would be repeated at periodic intervals for the safety and welfare of the personnel and that the content would be constantly updated.
