Simultaneous operation against 'new generation' criminal organizations in Ankara: 55 detentions

In Ankara province, a significant operation process targeting so-called 'new generation' criminal organizations has been completed as a result of meticulous work carried out by security units in recent days. Under the coordination of police department teams, simultaneous raids on addresses were launched with the aim of dismantling the hierarchical structure of the organization and halting its activities. Within the scope of the operations, a large number of suspects identified as organization members were taken into custody based on existing evidence and transferred to police headquarters. Following the completion of the procedures for the detained suspects, it was determined that they were referred to judicial authorities, and after the statement procedures there, they were brought before a judge.

Following the taking of statements from the suspects at the police and the submission of the indictment prepared by the prosecutor's office to the court, requests for detention were evaluated. During the interrogation process by the Sulh Ceza Hakimliği (Penal Judgeship of Peace), it was learned that the suspects faced various accusations such as establishing, managing, or providing financial support to criminal organizations. As a result of the examinations by the court, a decision for detention was issued for 55 suspects who were considered to be involved in serious crimes such as being an armed criminal organization and laundering assets derived from crime. The decision was finalized to ensure the continuation of the suspects' detention and to deepen the investigation.

Structures defined as new generation criminal organizations are known to operate in a more technological and institutional manner, unlike traditional criminal organizations. It is reported that such organizations actively use the digital world to generate extensive income and can manage their leaders through these systems. The intelligence and evidence obtained by the police teams in this operation succeeded in deciphering this modern structure of the organization and played a key role in planning the operation. The successful implementation of the simultaneous operation strategy prevented the suspects from closing communication channels and destroying evidence, ensuring the investigation was placed on a solid footing.

The investigation carried out under the coordination of the Ankara Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı (Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office) also includes an in-depth examination and search activities targeting the financial resources and criminal history of the organization. During the searches at the addresses, numerous digital materials, documents, and notes regarding organizational activities were seized and handed over to an expert team for examination. It was reported that among the seized evidence were records of converting the criminal proceeds of the organization into legitimate-looking investments and secret communication flows between members. This evidence constitutes important proof for the collapse of the organization both financially and organizationally, while expanding the scope of the investigation file and strengthening the possibility of new suspects.

Following this successful operation, it was announced that security forces in Ankara will continue other works against similar criminal organizations within the framework of law and will continue meticulously. Emniyet yetkilileri (Security officials) emphasized that no structure disturbing peace and security and generating income from crime will be allowed to continue its activities, and that operations will continue with determination when necessary. After the detained suspects are sent to prison, the possibility of new detections being made within the scope of the investigation and the detention list expanding is not being ignored. This event signals the latest point reached in the fight against crime in Ankara and that the effective struggle against new generation organizations will continue to increase in the future.
