Historic Step in Azerbaycan: National Standards Approved for Kamancha for the First Time

For the first time in Azerbaycan, national standards have been officially approved for the traditional folk instrument called the kamancha. This historic step was realized through the initiative of the Kültür Bakanlığı and is considered one of the most important steps taken towards the preservation of the country's musical heritage. Ministry officials, in statements to Modern.az regarding the matter, announced that the process has been successfully completed. This achievement, attained within the scope of the national musical instruments standardization project, holds great importance for the accurate transmission of Azerbaycan's cultural riches to future generations. Officials note that this work is only the beginning and that similar steps will be taken for other traditional instruments.

In the statement made by the Ministry, it was emphasized that a significant stage in the standardization of national musical instruments has been successfully completed. In this context, the detailed work meticulously prepared by the Technical Committee named AZSTAND-44 was completed. The said technical committee conducted a meticulous study by determining specific national standards for a total of four different sizes of the kamancha family. Thanks to these newly established standards, all technical details, from the instrument's production to its dimensions, are now formalized. Thus, the goal is to create a clear reference point for both local makers and musicians who promote this instrument internationally.
