Christopher Nolan's 'Odysseia' Opens with a 264.1 Million Dollar Record at the Global Box Office

Directed by Christopher Nolan and adapted from Homer's epic, the film 'Odysseia' achieved an impressive opening weekend of 264.1 million dollars worldwide. While the production grossed 124.5 million dollars in the US alone, it also brought in 139.6 million dollars from international markets. These figures allowed the film to surpass the opening weekend of Nolan's 'Oppenheimer', turning it into one of the most powerful cinematic events of recent years.

It was reported that approximately 125 million dollars was also spent on the marketing campaign for the film, which has a production budget of 250 million dollars. Released by Universal Pictures, the film drew attention particularly for being Nolan's first production shot entirely with IMAX cameras. Consequently, IMAX box office sales achieved the company's best weekend performance to date, and screenings sold out weeks in advance in many theaters.

Despite the film's cast being criticized by some conservative circles and Elon Musk reacting to it, these controversies did not negatively impact its box office success. Earning a 95 percent fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 'A' grade from audiences, the production also provided great momentum to the cinema industry's post-pandemic recovery. Universal Pictures executives predict that the successful box office run of the film, which appeals to a wide audience, will continue into the fall.
