Reaction from İran to ABD: Recent Military Attacks Are a Clear War Crime

The İran Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly condemned the recent military attacks conducted by the Amerika Birleşik Devletleri, describing these actions with the concept of 'war crime' found in international law. In the official written statement published by the Ministry, it was emphasized that the Iranian people and the state will continue to exhibit a resolute stance against any kind of threat towards the country's territorial integrity, sovereign rights, and national security. This harsh statement caused the political and military tension between Tahran and Washington to suddenly escalate. Officials underlined that İran will make no concessions when it comes to defending itself. Such tensions experienced during this critical period when peace and stability must be established in the region also cause deep concern within the international community.

It was expressed by İran that, in the recent attacks by the ABD, the incidents allegedly experienced regarding some commercial and civilian ships in the Hürmüz Boğazı were used as a pretext. The Tahran administration argued that the military operation conducted under this pretext is a direct violation of international agreements, thereby moving the issue to a legal ground. It was detailed that the attacks clearly violate Article 2(4) of the Birleşmiş Milletler Sözleşmesi and are contrary to the spirit of the agreement signed to end armed conflicts between countries. İran officials claimed that these actions constitute an unauthorized and unjustified intervention on the territory of an independent state. In this context, it was noted that the Washington administration's actions in the region were evaluated as an intentional provocation rather than a legitimate security justification.

Officials of the İran Ministry of Foreign Affairs targeted and criticized in detail the recent statements made by high-level American officials, especially ABD President Donald Trump. It was stated that the failure to adhere to the agreement reached to end the war was clearly exposed with these kinds of statements. Tahran stated that the international community should not silently observe this attitude and that the actions of the ABD endanger global peace. It was noted that this aggressive attitude of the Trump administration has the potential to further disrupt the already fragile balances in the Orta Doğu. Regional actors, on the other hand, feel the necessity to urgently seek diplomacy to prevent the exchanges between the two countries from turning into a broader crisis.

The military attacks experienced also had serious and adverse consequences on İran's domestic transportation infrastructure, negatively affecting daily life. Due to the attack conducted by ABD forces on the vitally important railway line connecting İran's capital Tahran with its second largest city, Meşhed, all passenger train services on this route were temporarily suspended for security reasons. This situation, in which thousands of passengers were victimized, caused great chaos in the country's transportation network. It remains uncertain for now how long the declared state of emergency will last. The damage to the railway line both restricted the mobility of the civilian population and delivered a significant blow to intercity commercial logistics processes, causing the economy to suffer as well.

It was announced to the public by officials that large-scale technical teams were immediately dispatched to the scene, and damage assessment efforts are being carried out at an intense pace. It was reported that efforts continue day and night to repair the line as quickly as possible and to restart normal services. This infrastructure attack once again exposed the danger created by including civilian transportation networks among military targets. The İran administration argues that such sabotage and attack attempts cannot break the country's power of reconstruction and resilience, nor can they demoralize its people. On the other hand, the effects of this tension on regional and global markets continue to be carefully monitored.
