Bribery and Tender Investigation into İzmit Belediyesi: Detention Order for 31 People Including Mayor Hürriyet

As part of the investigation conducted by the İstanbul Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı, a detention order was issued for 31 people, including İzmit Belediye Başkanı Fatma Kaplan Hürriyet. The investigation focuses on "bribery" and "rigging a tender" charges. It was also reported that a search was conducted at the municipal building.

The investigation file was shaped in line with suspect statements, effective repentance declarations, and secret witness interviews. The investigation includes findings that there are kinship ties between the officials of the companies that won or bid for the tenders and the municipal personnel. Additionally, it was claimed that money was received under the name of commission from companies doing business with the municipality.

According to the investigation, it is believed that the mayor's husband, Murat Hürriyet, had a direct impact on the tender processes and personnel and staffing determinations. Among the 31 people taken into custody are CHP İzmit İlçe Başkanı Gökhan Ercan and numerous municipal officials.
