Horrific accident in Konya: Truck and car collided, 2 people lost their lives

The traffic accident that occurred on the İçeriçumra road within the borders of Çumra district of Konya caused great sorrow in the region. According to initial information, this incident involving a truck and a car took place at a mixed point at local times. Two of the passengers in the car unfortunately lost their lives due to the impact of the collision, while the other two people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital with various injuries. After the initial examinations at the scene, the bodies of the deceased were sent to the morgue for autopsy upon the instructions of the prosecutor's office. In a statement from hospital sources regarding the condition of the injured, it was stated that their health conditions were stable and their treatment continued. The truck driver, who survived the accident by luck without any injuries, was detained by the security units. Security measures were taken on the road where the incident occurred, and traffic flow was provided in a controlled manner.

Police, fire, and health teams dispatched to the scene upon notification worked intensively to ensure the injured were removed from the vehicle. Health teams performed the first intervention in ambulances according to the severity of the injured's condition and then referred them to the nearest health institutions. Fire crews supported the rescue operation by removing the vehicle jam and took precautions against a possible fire risk. Police teams created a security cordon, collected initial evidence regarding the accident, and referred to the statements of observation witnesses. The truck and car involved in the accident were removed to impound vehicles with tow trucks for detailed examination.

Although the exact cause of the accident has not yet been clarified in the initial assessments, it is being investigated whether driver errors or road conditions were effective. Truck driver F.A. was taken to the police headquarters to have his statement taken, and the detention process continues. Within the scope of the investigation initiated by the prosecutor's office, the technical controls of the vehicles involved in the accident will be carried out and camera records will be examined. While the issue of increasing measures on the roads in the region comes to the agenda within the scope of combating traffic accidents, it was emphasized that strict inspections should be carried out to prevent similar accidents. Authorities stated that the investigation regarding the accident was continuing in all aspects and the results would be shared with the public.
