Signature campaign launched for 24 December in Hungary

The Commercial Employees' Union in Hungary has launched a referendum initiative to have 24 December recognized as an official holiday. The signature collection process regarding the issue has officially started.

Opposition leader Péter Magyar had previously promised that 24 December would be declared a holiday. Now, the necessary signatures for a public vote are being collected in line with this goal.

The initiative is particularly important for employees in the retail sector in terms of their annual leave rights and official holiday regulations. The union aims to bring the issue to a public vote if enough signatures are collected.
