In Nigeria, APC uploads 13 gubernatorial candidates to the INEC system for the 2027 elections

In Nigeria, the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has submitted the candidacy information of 13 gubernatorial candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections. The party accelerated its efforts to meet the August 8 deadline set by the electoral board for the submission of gubernatorial and state assembly candidates.

Party officials are now confident that all 28 gubernatorial candidates and their running mates will be uploaded to the system on time. Documents from candidates in some states, including Lagos, Ogun, Niger, and Plateau, have been processed. However, the party also noted that it faced some difficulties in the uploading process for state assembly candidates due to technical glitches in the INEC system.

On the other hand, the party announced that it had previously successfully uploaded 471 of its candidates (at the presidential, senate, and House of Representatives levels) to the system. This process also confirmed that Bola Tinubu and his Deputy Kashim Shettima are finalized as the party's official presidential candidates for the 2027 elections. The APC's reconciliation committee continues its activities to address the grievances of some party members who are dissatisfied with the candidate selection processes.
