Lifeless bodies of 2 out of 3 people who went missing in the sea in Şile reached

In the tragic incidents that occurred in the sea yesterday in İstanbul's Şile district, three individuals who entered the water to cool off in different areas went missing due to the impact of the waves. Following the disappearance of the individuals named İsa Bodur, Ahmet Can Yavuz, and Umut Gümüş, aged between 24 and 42, great concern arose in the region. It was learned that the sea conditions at the locations where the incident occurred were quite challenging, and there were warnings advising swimmers not to enter the water. Following these painful events, authorities once again warned the local residents and vacationers about sea safety. This sad development brought the importance of safety precautions among citizens who flock to the seas during the summer months to the agenda once again.

Numerous search and rescue teams were dispatched to the region in order to find and rescue the missing individuals. The Gendarmerie, Fire Department, AFAD, and Coast Guard units, along with the sea lifeguard teams affiliated with the İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi (İBB), immediately responded to the incident. The teams launched a large-scale scanning operation both from the field and the sea against possible drowning cases. In these time-critical search efforts, dive teams and boats searched the rocks and deep waters inch by inch. This meticulous operation, conducted jointly by multiple institutions, became a highly arduous process due to the challenging sea conditions.

As a result of the intensive search efforts, the lifeless bodies of two of the three missing individuals were reached. The body of İsa Bodur (42) was found trapped among steep rocks off the coast of Sofular Mağarası as a result of the teams' prolonged efforts. On the other hand, the body of Ahmet Can Yavuz (24), who entered the sea at Akçakese Plajı and could not return, was also recovered from the depths of the water. Both bodies, which were safely removed from the water, were sent to the morgue after the initial examinations conducted by the prosecutor's office and forensic teams in the region. These findings revealed that the scenario families feared most during the search efforts unfortunately came true.

All teams continue to work tirelessly to find Umut Gümüş, aged 25, who remains the only hope left. Following the young man's disappearance in the water around Akçakese Plajı, coast guard teams continue their search activities in the region without any interruption. In this final search operation, where families and loved ones are waiting with anxiety, the state of the sea conditions makes the teams' job quite difficult. In order to find Gümüş as soon as possible and deliver him to his family, the number of teams and equipment has been increased, expanding the search components. Authorities stated that sea currents and adverse weather conditions slow down the search, but hopes are not completely exhausted.

Yesterday, when these painful events occurred, a significant security decision was also made in the region by the Şile Kaymakamlığı. Due to adverse weather and unfavorable meteorological conditions, the Kaymakamlık completely banned entering the sea at all beaches except Ayazma Plajı and Ağva Merkez Plajı. However, unfortunately, this tragic incident experienced by three people who entered the water in prohibited zones painfully demonstrated how vital the rules are. Relevant institutions invite all citizens, during these days when adverse weather and sea conditions persist, to enter the sea only at beaches where lifeguards are present and entry is permitted. Authorities added that any risky behavior that would jeopardize life safety must be avoided and that warnings must absolutely be followed.
