Chain-reaction accident on Silivri TEM Otoyolu: 5 people injured

A serious chain-reaction traffic accident occurred involving three different vehicles while in motion on the TEM Otoyolu located within the Silivri boundaries. With the impact of the accident, long queues of vehicles formed on the road, and upon notification, a large number of security and health teams were dispatched to the scene. Initial examinations at the scene indicate that the accident has a highly complex structure due to the involvement of multiple vehicles and that traffic is significantly obstructed. While the vehicles became unusable due to the accident, drivers and passengers inside experienced great panic and shock. Authorities have begun examining security camera footage from the area to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Initial information regarding the severity of the injuries sustained in the accident revealed that 5 people suffered traumatic injuries to various parts of the body. Ambulances reaching the scene shortly made intense efforts to stabilize the condition of the injured and minimize their vital risks. After the initial intervention at the scene by health teams, the injured were taken to the nearest health facilities for treatment. It was announced that some of the injured remain in a critical condition, but there is no risk of fatality for any of them. It was stated that the injured hospitalized are kept under observation for their statements to be taken by police teams.

Such chain-reaction accidents are among the risky situations frequently encountered, especially on highway sections with heavy traffic flow, and which can lead to loss of life. Traffic experts state that such events are usually caused by factors such as failure to maintain distance between vehicles, non-compliance with speed limits, and failure to take weather conditions into account. Failure to comply with these rules can lead to major accidents involving material damage and physical injuries due to a small moment of carelessness. It was observed that traffic came to a complete standstill on the relevant section of the TEM Otoyolu due to the accident, and vehicles created long queues. Traffic police arrived at the scene and tried to create alternative lanes to allow other vehicles to pass during the removal of the crashed vehicles. The process of clearing the accident and removing the debris from the road delayed the return of traffic to normal for a while and caused long waiting times for drivers. Test results regarding whether the drivers were under the influence of alcohol or drugs will also be added to the report as an integral part of the investigation. As a result of the investigation to be conducted, it was announced that necessary sanctions will be applied within the framework of the Turkish Penal Code and Traffic Law to the drivers found to be at fault.
