Explosion at Cafe in Syria's Capital Damascus: 5 Dead, 16 Injured

A violent explosion occurred in a cafe located along the route of Hamidiye Çarşısı, one of the busiest and historic districts of Syria's capital, Şam. Initial announcements by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) stated that numerous security units and health teams were dispatched to the scene, while the Syrian Ministry of Interior confirmed that the explosion was carried out with an improvised explosive device (EYP). The fact that the cafe where the incident occurred is located immediately next to the Adalet Sarayı has caused the target of the attack or its symbolic message to be discussed.

In official statements following the explosion, detailed information regarding the number of casualties and injured was shared by Syrian Ministry of Health officials. Dr. Ahmed El-Bekkur, Director of Ambulance and Emergency Management at the Ministry of Health, stated in his announcement that the number of those who lost their lives in the explosion rose to 5, and the number of injured was 16.
