Armed fight at entertainment venue in Tekirdağ: 4 injured, suspect caught in Istanbul

It was reported that a verbal dispute that started for an unknown reason between groups late at night at an entertainment venue in İsmetpaşa Mahallesi, Kapaklı district of Tekirdağ, turned into a horrific armed fight in a short time. While the incident created an atmosphere of chaos, four different individuals named O.A., U.E., E.O. and Y.C. were injured in various parts of their bodies as a result of the suspect named F.P. opening fire with the gun he had with him. While gunshots and panic moments were experienced at the venue and tension reached its peak in the surroundings, upon the call of local residents and venue staff who reported the situation, a large number of police and health teams were dispatched to the region immediately. It was determined that the incident had a shock effect in the region, and during the initial interventions of the teams, it was observed that the injuries of the wounded were heavy, and their hospital transfer processes were initiated.

After the first emergency intervention made by the health teams at the scene, O.A., who was in danger of losing his life, and the other three injured were taken to the nearest health institutions, Kapaklı State Hospital and Çerkezköy State Hospital, with closed-circuit ambulances for treatment. As a result of the intensive efforts of the doctors in the hospitals, it was learned that the condition of one of the injured remained serious and their life was still in danger, while the health conditions of the other injured were reported to remain serious although there was no life-threatening situation. Upon this development, the Tekirdağ-centered and regional security units initiated a special operation to catch the suspect F.P., who was involved in the incident and determined to have fired, and pursued the fleeing suspect.

As a result of the detailed and coordinated work carried out by the security units, it was determined that the suspect F.P. had fled Tekirdağ and taken refuge in Istanbul, one of the neighboring provinces. Based on this intelligence, the address or addresses where the suspect might be hiding in Istanbul were determined, and an operation plan was prepared by contacting the Istanbul teams. With the successful operation carried out by the police teams in Istanbul, F.P., who was determined to be one of the perpetrators of the armed fight, was rendered ineffective and taken into custody in a short time.

The suspect F.P., who was caught in Istanbul, was brought to Tekirdağ, to the Kapaklı District Police Directorate, by prisoner transport vehicles to be questioned and for the completion of legal proceedings. The authorities are trying to find answers to the questions of whether the suspect, whose statement is being taken at the security units, is the sole perpetrator of the incident and where the gun was obtained. In the meantime, it was noted that the investigation into the incident was deepened, the security cameras in the surrounding area were examined, and the testimonies of other people inside the venue were referred to. The police stated that they continued to work meticulously to reveal the details of the incident and the real cause of the fight.

On the other hand, questions have begun to arise regarding the adequacy of security measures at entertainment venues and the measures to be taken to prevent the recurrence of such incidents. It was reported that the residents of Kapaklı and Çerkezköy districts requested that the authorities tighten inspections to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again. It was stated that after the procedures of the suspect at the police station are completed, he will be referred to the judicial authorities and will appear before a judge. It was emphasized that there was no effort to reconcile the incident, that the use of the weapon as a deterrent power caused public outrage, and that the necessary processes were underway for justice to be served.
