Trump accuses China of interfering in elections, citing vulnerabilities in the election system

Former US President Donald Trump announced that the White House has released documents that allegedly contain vulnerabilities and errors regarding the American election system. However, according to The New York Times, a large portion of the material in question has already been shared with the public or consists of censored content.

Trump directly accused Beijing, claiming that China seized data belonging to American voters during a multi-year period starting with the 2020 elections. The former president claimed that during this process, 220 million voter records were stolen illegally, calling it the largest theft of election data in history.

In contrast, Trump's claims contradict both past legal proceedings and official intelligence reports. None of the more than 60 lawsuits filed by Trump and his allies proved any irregularity that could have changed the outcome of the 2020 election. Additionally, the 2021 US intelligence assessment concluded that no foreign actor attempted or succeeded in altering the technical aspects of the elections.
