Ferry with 267 people issues distress signal off Cyprus coast, rescue operations ongoing

A ferry that had just begun its voyage in the open waters off Cyprus sent a distress signal shortly after leaving the port.

There were 267 people on board, over 200 of whom were passengers. Authorities reported the vessel was in distress.
