Bitter news from the car that rolled down a cliff on the Aksaray-Konya road: 3 dead, 1 injured

In a tragic traffic accident that occurred in the morning hours near the Yenikent town intersection on the Aksaray-Konya highway, three people from the same family lost their lives in a car that lost control and rolled down an embankment. The accident occurred at around 07.45 in the morning, in the vehicle with license plate 50 AEG 167, driven by Adem Gündüz, traveling in the direction of Aksaray from Konya. The accident of the vehicle, which went off the road and rolled over after the driver lost steering control, was reported to the authorities after other drivers in the vicinity immediately notified the 112 Emergency Call Center. Following the report of the incident, police and medical teams were dispatched to the area rapidly. In the initial examinations conducted by the teams on the scene, it was determined that the condition of the passengers inside the vehicle was severe.

In the checks performed by the medical teams who arrived at the scene shortly after, it was determined that the 52-year-old mother Çiğdem Gündüz, who was a passenger in the vehicle, and her 25-year-old son Emircan Gündüz lost their lives at the scene. In the accident where a struggle for life took place, the 55-year-old father Adem Gündüz, who was the driver of the vehicle, and his other 18-year-old son Bedirhan Gündüz, who was in the vehicle, were rescued with severe injuries. After the initial interventions of the wounded, ambulances were prepared for their transfer to the Emergency Department of Aksaray Training and Research Hospital, where they were fighting for their lives. The fact that the family members were in the same vehicle caused great sorrow among the local people and their relatives after the accident was announced. Medical teams mobilized all their medical efforts to ensure the stabilization of the injured.

Despite all medical interventions made in the emergency department, the injured father Adem Gündüz, who was taken to the hospital, could not be saved and passed away. With this outcome, the number of those who lost their lives in the accident rose to three, while the only person who managed to survive was 18-year-old Bedirhan Gündüz. It was learned that the young injured person continues to be treated in the hospital and his condition remains serious. It was reported that medical teams are making intensive efforts to keep the young man alive. The successive loss of three people from the same family deeply shook the hospital staff and the local people.

Following the examinations carried out by the police teams at the scene, the bodies of the mother and son who lost their lives were taken to the hospital morgue for an autopsy. Security forces took extensive measures to ensure traffic safety and collect evidence in the road section where the accident occurred. A detailed sketch study was conducted at the accident scene to clarify how the vehicle rolled down the embankment by the roadside. Authorities also took into account the weather and traffic conditions of the road at those hours. Following the completion of the procedures, the bodies are expected to be handed over to their relatives.

A large-scale investigation has been officially launched by the Aksaray Provincial Police Department teams regarding the accident. Within the scope of the investigation, it was stated that the technical condition of the vehicle would be examined, as well as the health and psychological condition of the driver at that moment.
