What Do Socialist Democrats in America Want?

The rise of socialist democracy in America has been gaining attention in recent months. The organization Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) has been supporting Democrats outside of the establishment in states like New York, Michigan, Colorado, and Wisconsin. DSA national vice-chair Megan Romer appeared on The New Yorker Radio Hour podcast to discuss the movement, but the interview was criticized for lacking specifics on the organization's policy positions. DSA has also not taken a clear stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Romer stated that DSA supports a Palestinian state and Jerusalem as its capital, but could not say whether they support the proposals of the Camp David summit. DSA's stance on Hamas has also been a subject of controversy. Romer supported New York congressional primary winner Darializa Avila Chevalier's attendance at a pro-Hamas rally on October 8, but emphasized that this does not mean they condone any harm to civilians or non-combatants.
