Fire at the OXY Tower in Brussels: Many dead and missing in the elevator

The fire that broke out in the morning hours at the OXY Tower located in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, led to a disaster. Although fire brigades intervened in the fire and brought the flames under control, it later emerged that the flames jumping into the elevator shaft of the building trapped people inside the elevator and cost them their lives.

During the search and rescue efforts conducted after the incident, many people who lost their lives were found in the elevator; the exact death toll has not yet been announced. In addition, 6 people in the building were reported missing from the scene, and authorities suspect that these individuals might be in another elevator that cannot be reached.

While two people were dispatched to Neder-over-Heembeek Military Hospital due to burns, one firefighter suffered thermal shock. It was announced that the building contained apartments as well as restaurants and a rooftop bar, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
