Theater Where Humanitarian Aid Takes the Lead: Investment in Society by Mozzart Foundation

The Mozzart Foundation, one of Serbia's leading civil society organizations, continues its social responsibility projects in the region by bringing together art and humanitarian aid. The foundation does not limit its philanthropic activities solely to traditional fundraising methods, adopting an innovative approach instead. In this context, the 'Theater of Humanity' (Teatar humanosti) established in the Dorćol district of Belgrad stands as proof of how cultural events can simultaneously be transformed into a movement of goodwill. Every penny collected while the stage lights are on becomes a ray of hope for individuals in need of medical treatment. Thus, art lovers become part of an experience that provides a direct benefit to society while enjoying a theater play.

The first season of the Theater of Humanity ended with a success far beyond expectations. Thanks to this unique theater project, the foundation generated a fund of more than 11 million Serbian dinars for the treatment expenses of citizens. The theater stage at Cara Dušana Caddesi 35 is no longer just a venue for artistic performances, but has also become the heart of solidarity and mutual aid. Creating financial support for those in need in return for every applause and every ticket has taken the event out of being an ordinary cultural event and turned it into one that serves a deep social purpose. The plays performed throughout the season clearly demonstrated the transformative power of art in a concrete way.

One of the most striking aspects of this project is how the participation of the audience is transformed into vital aid. Every audience member coming to the theater is not merely watching a play; they know that every ticket they purchase ensures a humanitarian aid SMS is sent. The Mozzart Foundation doubles the entire amount collected through these SMS messages, immensely increasing the impact of the donation. This model, which directly supports the treatment processes of individuals named Jovan, Elena, Slobodan, Darija, and Marijana, constitutes one of the finest examples of participatory philanthropy. The emotional stories the audience hears on stage also find real-life counterparts, and knowing that the money spent from their wallets saves lives provides them with deep satisfaction.

The use of the collected funds was planned in a highly transparent and strategic manner. At the end of the first season, 5.830.000 dinars of the money collected through the theater was directly allocated to the health expenses of individuals in need. In addition, an additional fund of over 5 million dinars obtained within the scope of the project was transferred to Serbia's well-established health institutions. Tiršova University Children's Clinic and Dragiša Mišović Clinical Center (KBC) are among the top institutions that greatly benefit from these donations. In this way, the equipment in the country's significant hospitals is being strengthened, and the treatment processes of pediatric patients are improved. By providing relief to the healthcare system with this support, the foundation ensures that the contributors' donations are directed to the most accurate and effective areas.

However, the Mozzart Foundation's investments in society are not limited to the fields of theater and health alone. The foundation conducts its activities as a much broader network of social responsibility that spreads across education, schools, and the entire country. Donations made to schools, cultural institutions, and local health facilities across every corner of Serbia aim to eliminate regional inequalities and increase equal opportunities. The foundation's large-scale efforts are based on the belief that investment in education forms the foundation of social development in the long run. Adopting the philosophy that humanity is not just a word, but a powerful tool that can change the world when put into action, the foundation implements its projects with this vision. These projects, where art and solidarity intertwine, clearly reveal the positive impact of civil society organizations on society in Serbia.
