Spanish National Police Mounted Unit Returns to Galicia for the Summer

The Mounted Unit of the Spanish National Police is returning to the Galicia region once again this summer season. The unit's primary tasks for this year have been designated as helping to prevent and detect forest fires in the region early. In addition to this, strengthening security measures in various sections of the world-famous Camiño de Santiago (Santiago Way) is also among the responsibilities of the mounted police unit. This comprehensive annual security and awareness campaign was officially introduced this Thursday in the city of Pontevedra. The launch event was held at the foot of the Heroes of Ponte Sampaio Monument, one of the city's landmarks. The Sub-Delegate of the Government in Pontevedra, Abel Losada, attended the event and delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of the campaign. Additionally, José Antonio Fontecha, who is in charge of the Mounted Unit, was also present and informed the public about the unit's duties throughout the summer.
