İzmir Metropolitan Municipality launched a comprehensive field study to create earthquake and liquefaction risk maps for the Karşıyaka district. In this context, 7,000 meters of drilling were carried out in an area of approximately 2,000 hectares, and the ground condition was examined in detail.
The extracted soil and rock samples were transported to a laboratory environment; a total of 6,000 tests were conducted by engineers. Additionally, 630 geophysical measurements and 200 different field tests were completed on-site, scientifically measuring the bearing capacity of the ground and its behavior during an earthquake.
