Price of 220 gram bread rises to 18 lira in Kahramanmaraş

Price adjustments for consumer food products continue throughout the province of Kahramanmaraş. Following the latest hike for the 220-gram loaf bread sold in bakeries across the city, the new tariff has entered into force. This decision, approved by the Kahramanmaraş Bakers and Pastry Production and Trade Craftsmen's Chamber, reflects the expectations of the bakery tradespeople to cover rising costs.

Under the new framework, the price increase for bread, the staple food consumed most daily by citizens, has become official. Accordingly, the price of the standard 220-gram loaf bread, previously sold for 15 lira, was set at 18 lira as of July 1. This development is stated to be a direct reflection of the mobility in the local economy and inflationary pressures.

Price adjustments based on gram weight for bread were also shaped under the clarity of the new tariff. Along with the regulation, sales prices of larger sized breads were updated in parallel with the increase in smaller breads. In this context, the new sales price for the double loaf bread weighing 440 grams became 36 lira. The pricing applied in bakeries was created with calculations aimed at maintaining the price balance of products in different gram weights.

In the price list presented to the attention of citizens and tradespeople, the cost calculation on a kilogram basis also gained clarity. According to the tariff table determined by the Bakers' Chamber, the price of 1 kilogram of loaf bread was announced as 81.81 lira. It is stated that this price was announced considering current market conditions and the cost structure of raw materials, and that it includes a technical calculation by the bakeries.

With this hike, the new prices to be applied in bakeries in Kahramanmaraş will be valid as of July 1. While the application of the tariff approved by the Chamber is mandatory at all bakery counters across the city, citizens have started to buy their bread under these new fees.
