Father and Son Lose Lives in Car Crash with Truck in Kocaeli

In a tragic traffic accident that occurred on the D-100 highway in the Körfez district of Kocaeli, two people lost their lives. In the morning hours at the Hacıosman Mahallesi location in the direction of Ankara, the car driven by Emin Torgay rear-ended a TIR traveling in front with great force. Due to the impact of the collision, the car went under the rear section of the TIR and was dragged for meters, turning into a heap of scrap. The severity of the accident eliminated the survival chances of the driver, who was trapped in the vehicle, and the passenger next to him.

Upon notification, a large number of fire, health, and police teams were dispatched to the scene. Fire crews reaching the scene initiated a difficult rescue operation to extract Emin Torgay and his father Musa Torgay from the car's cabin, which was jammed under the TIR. The injured, who were in a stuck position, were removed from the vehicle as a result of the meticulous work of the teams and handed over to health teams. However, despite initial interventions, the vital risks of the father and son continued, and their condition was understood to be critical.

The injured father and son were quickly taken to surrounding hospitals by ambulances and treated in the emergency room. Despite all interventions of doctors and intensive care efforts, Musa Torgay and his son Emin Torgay could not be saved and lost their lives. This unfortunate accident caused great sorrow in the region, and it was stated that losing two lives at the same time created a painful mourning for the remaining family members. The bodies of the deceased were taken to forensic medicine for autopsy procedures.

Following the examinations, the bodies were received by the family, and preparations were begun to be buried in their hometown, Dilovası district of Kocaeli. It was learned that the Torgay family were known people operating in the textile sector for many years. Upon hearing of the accident, their loved ones in the region started flocking to Dilovası for condolence visits. The funeral in Dilovası is expected to be held with a large turnout and amidst tears.

While the investigation into the accident is continuing in depth, police teams are trying to determine why the car hit the TIR in their examinations at the scene. Although the reason why the car rear-ended the TIR has not been finalized, possibilities such as driver error, speed, or road conditions are being focused on. The TIR driver involved in the accident is being kept in custody to have his statement taken, and the exact course of the event is trying to be illuminated by examining the images on the D-100 highway and analyzing security camera recordings. Authorities issued warnings regarding traffic safety and called on drivers to be more careful.
