Mega Launches 'Private LTE Lite' Network for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

Russian telecom operator Mega has expanded its private network portfolio by launching the 'Private LTE Lite' (pLTE Lite) solution, a first in the industry. Combining the base station and network core into a single compact device, this new technology is made particularly accessible to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

Thanks to the system, which offers fast installation, businesses can deploy a secure mobile infrastructure in their own facilities in just a few days and at much lower costs. Specifically designed for logistics centers, warehouses, medium-sized industrial facilities, and temporary production areas, the solution supports the integration of sensors, cameras, and industrial equipment. In the later stages, it also offers the flexibility to upgrade to a fully comprehensive Private LTE or 5G network without the need to replace the existing infrastructure.

According to company officials, the pLTE Lite architecture reduces capital expenditures by 70-80 percent and operating expenses by up to 50 percent. The return on investment period, which is 2 to 4 years in classical networks, is expected to drop to 12-18 months with this new system. This creates a significant advantage for areas where isolated data communication is critical but traditional network setup is costly.
