Double good news for the Norwegian Royal Family: Mette-Marit and her son Marius return home

Two significant developments coincided on the same day for the Norwegian Royal Family. It was announced that Crown Princess Mette-Marit was discharged and returned home following her lung transplant operation last month. On the same day, it was decided that her stepson Marius Borg Høiby, who was convicted of sexual assault and violence crimes, will serve his sentence at home with an electronic ankle monitor.

29-year-old Høiby had been in custody since the beginning of February and was sentenced to four years in prison last month. Following the prosecution's withdrawal of the appeal to extend his detention, Høiby settled at the Skaugum Royal Residence. The appeal regarding the sentence of Høiby, who is banned from leaving the house and subjected to strict controls for drug use at the residence, is expected to be heard next year.

52-year-old Princess Mette-Marit, who was diagnosed with chronic pulmonary fibrosis and underwent surgery, thanked her doctors and organ donors. Stating that her health condition is progressing well under the circumstances, the princess will be closely monitored for infection and organ rejection risks over the next six months and will take a break from her official duties during this process.
