Harsh Words from Özgür Özel: We Will Either Take Our Party Back Or Find Another Way

CHP Group Chairperson Özgür Özel visited the Bayçikoop Flower and Women's Cooperative in İzmir's Bayındır district and made important statements against the current management regarding his party. Özel emphasized that a great injustice has been done to the Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi, and that the legitimacy of the team that won the last four congresses has been ignored. He openly criticized the attempt to change the elected General President based on the result of a convention held six years ago. Özel claimed that in this process, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Minister of Justice he appointed are directly responsible, stating that everyone should know the situation as such. Arguing that this intervention against the CHP is part of a political plan, Özel stated that they will fight to the end to protect their party's rights.

Emphasizing the importance of democratic principles with his words, "If there is a ballot box, we exist; if there is no ballot box, we do not exist," Özel stated that his party's legitimate management will resume its duties shortly. Özel expressed that the goals of the team that defeated Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who thought himself invincible, for the first time in 23 years, and the General President who made the party the first party after 47 years, cannot be prevented. He added to his words that if the power bloc tries to stop their march to power with a judicial coup, they will find another way to bring the party back to power. In this regard, he reiterated his confidence that his party will once again become the first party in the upcoming elections. He gave the message that elections are won at the ballot box and that the will of the people will prevail despite all kinds of obstacles.

Özl stated decisively that they will never allow the intentions of those who plan a division within the Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi. Stating that they will not leave the CHP to its fate and that they will not be a part of the ruling bloc's plans, Özel emphasized that they will foil this game. By commemorating the famous cinema artist Kadir İnanır, who passed away yesterday, he referred to his famous character "Tatar Ramazan" and reminded of the words, "We will foil this game." Özel stated that he had previously visited İnanır in the hospital, that he closely followed the rallies during that period, and that he sent them his best wishes. He recalled that during the operations against the CHP's İstanbul Provincial Chairmanship, they struggled with the same determination and stated that they would foil this game.

After Bayındır, meeting with citizens in Ödemiş district, Özel stated that their main struggle from now on will be to save the CHP from the AKP's occupation and its desire to change the elected General President through the judiciary. He emphasized that the real struggle is not within the CHP, but between Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and the Turkish nation. Noting that a coup has been carried out today against the staff who will bring about a change in power, Özel stated that a coup does not always happen with tanks, cannons, or military uniforms. Stating that in this period the coup is carried out with a prosecutor's robe, Özel stated that they are completely opposed to all kinds of coups. He expressed that they will not allow the people's will to be trampled upon during this process and that they will struggle to protect democratic rights.

Responding to the question of whether they would establish a new party, Özel stated that they remain in their party but are engaged in a new political understanding and march. Stating that this new politics will be the party of housewives, youth, retirees, workers, and everyone who has lost hope for the future, Özel demonstrated his determination to leave the old system behind. Stating that they reject a system where the rich always win and the poor always lose, Özel expressed that they will also leave behind those who are ungrateful to retirees. He added to his words that by leaving behind their own personal ambitions, stubbornness, and passions, they aim for a real change of power for Turkey. Özel stated that they have no intention of separating, dividing, or leaving anyone behind, and that they vow from Ödemiş that they only seek power for Turkey.
