PDK finds the postponement of the decision for Thaçi and others unjust

In the trial process regarding Kosovo's former president Hashim Thaçi and other former officials, PDK (Kosova Demokratik Partisi), one of Kosovo's largest political parties, harshly criticized the postponement of the decision. The PDK spokesperson stated that this postponement delays justice and violates the rights of the defendants. The party claimed that the Kosova Uzman Daireleri (Special Court) in The Hague was following a political agenda by prolonging the process.

PDK argues that Thaçi and the other defendants played important roles in Kosovo's independence struggle and that therefore their trial is political. Party officials expressed that the court should deliver its decision as soon as possible, otherwise it could lead to political instability in Kosovo. Especially Thaçi's situation is causing polarization in Kosovar politics.

The Uzman Daireleri is investigating the war crimes allegedly committed by the Kosova Kurtuluş Ordusu (UÇK) during the 1998-1999 war. Thaçi and other former UÇK commanders are accused of crimes against humanity and war crimes. The court had postponed its decision several times due to the complexity of the evidence and the requests of the parties.

This reaction from PDK could increase political tensions in Kosovo. The party emphasizes Thaçi's innocence without waiting for the court's decision and calls on the international community to intervene in the process. On the other hand, civil society organizations and war victims want justice to be served as soon as possible.

This development could also affect Kosovo's European Union integration process. The EU expects Kosovo to respect the rule of law and support the work of the Uzman Daireleri. PDK's criticisms towards the court pose a risk for Kosovo's international reputation.
