It has been announced that planned power outages will be implemented this Thursday and Friday in Arequipa, one of the important regions of the South American country of Peru. Sociedad Electrica Sur Oeste (SEAL), the region's electricity distribution company, stated that the outages will affect various settlements in the Arequipa and Caravelí provinces. The main purpose of these outages is to carry out maintenance work on medium-voltage networks and to fix deficiencies in the system. Company officials state that technical teams will work intensively to complete these tasks. The main reason for scheduling the outages at specific hours is to minimize the inconvenience experienced by local residents.
As part of the first interventions planned for Thursday, electricity service will be temporarily suspended in three different districts. In the Cerro Colorado district of the Arequipa province, power will be cut from 07:30 in the morning until 14:30 in the afternoon. During this period, technical teams will work intensively to fix deficiencies and carry out medium-voltage maintenance on the Valle Blanco circuit, in accordance with Osinergmin's procedure number 228-2009-OS/CD. On the same morning, a similar operation will be conducted in the Lomas district of the Caravelí province, where the outage will last until 15:30 in the afternoon.
The third location to be affected on Thursday will be the Cocachacra district in the Islay province. In this area, the power outage will start at 08:00 in the morning and continue until 16:00. The primary focus of the technical teams in this operation will be maintaining the medium-voltage networks in the Fiscal circuit, replacing a transformer, and cleaning insulators. Among the affected areas, the El Fiscal settlement stands out. This intensive technical operation has been meticulously planned to make the region's energy infrastructure more reliable and uninterrupted.
On Friday, four more districts will be affected by power outages as part of planned maintenance work. Starting at 07:30 in the morning, there will be an outage until 15:50 in the José Luis Bustamante y Rivero district of the Arequipa province. Technical teams in this area will carry out the replacement of a 160 KVA transformer at the SED 3245 substation. At the same time, power will be cut in the Bella Unión, Jaqui, and Yauca districts of the Caravelí province for improvement and maintenance operations on medium-voltage circuits.
Among the areas affected by Friday's outages are several neighborhoods such as Fundo La Pampita, Lateral 1, Lateral 2, and Sector San Pablo. Company officials have warned residents living in all the mentioned areas to take necessary precautions. It was emphasized that electronic devices should be unplugged and not connected to sockets to prevent them from being affected, in case the power returns suddenly. Technical teams aim to complete all work as quickly as possible and restore energy service in an uninterrupted manner.
