In Seferihisar Municipal Council, CHP's Fuat Gümüş Became the 2. Deputy Chairman

An extraordinary election was held for the vacant 2. Deputy Chairman seat during the joint meeting of the Seferihisar Municipal Council. A fierce competition occurred in the election between Fuat Gümüş, the candidate of CHP, and Çağatay Rasim Çağır from Zafer Partisi. In this critical meeting where a total of 23 council members voted, the ballot boxes yielded a clear result in the first round. Fuat Gümüş achieved a success well above his competitor by receiving 17 votes and was elected as the deputy chairman. This result meant that CHP once again confirmed its strength in the Seferihisar Municipal Council.

Çağatay Rasim Çağır of Zafer Partisi, who was on the other side of the election and received the support of AK Parti and MHP, could not see the expected support. Çağır could only receive 1 vote in the voting held and lost his chance of being the winner of the election. Additionally, while 4 of the cast votes were considered blank, 1 vote was deemed invalid due to procedural deficiencies. This picture revealed that the alliance on the opposition side was not sufficiently reflected in the ballot box and that the CHP candidate established an overwhelming superiority. The vote distribution provided important clues about how the political balances within the council were shaped.

Following the finalization of the election results, the provincial organizations of the political parties also made evaluations regarding the matter. Zafer Partisi İzmir İl Başkanlığı shared its impressions about the process, stating that the election was completed in a democratic environment. At the same time, CHP İzmir İl Başkanı Evrim Karakoz, along with Çağatay Güç and Sinan Bezircilioğlu, who were previously dismissed from duty in Seferihisar, shared their impressions with the public. The statements made by all these political actors showed how actively democratic processes and political competition function in local governments. Authorities gave the message that cooperation should continue in line with the interests of the Seferihisar public.

The newly elected Deputy Chairman Fuat Gümüş emphasized inclusive governance and transparency in his statement made immediately following his victory. Gümüş used a conciliatory language, stating that they would work in harmony with all council members and would not deviate from collective wisdom in the upcoming process. With his statements, "Our principle of transparent governance will continue without compromise," he promised the Seferihisar public an accountable understanding of municipal management. He stated that he aimed to be the voice of all segments of the city by staying away from partisanship during his term of office. This discourse opened the doors to a new era and a harmonious working atmosphere in the city's administration.

On the other hand, Çağatay Güç, who was previously dismissed from duty as the CHP İzmir İl Başkanı, also published an important message through his social media accounts. Güç stated that this decision made by the council majority was a strong indication of the will of the Seferihisar public at the ballot box. He noted that he welcomed with appreciation the sensitivity shown by the council members regarding democracy, law, and protecting the public's trust. Emphasizing that the trust the public placed in him would not be betrayed, Güç added to his promise that their support would continue for all municipal employees, especially the current mayor, İsmail Yetişkin. These statements revealed that the solidarity among the party's local organizations remained strong and that stable governance was embraced in Seferihisar.
