Operation against network leaking information from public institutions to criminal organization: 24 arrests

In the extensive investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, an organizational network that established a relationship of interest with criminal organizations and infiltrated public institutions was exposed. In the 'Köstepek' operation conducted simultaneously in 12 provinces, centered in İstanbul, numerous police officers, lawyers, and customs officers were taken into custody. During the investigation, 37 suspects, including courthouse personnel and law enforcement forces, were caught.

MASAK and bank analysis reports revealed that the network had reached a massive financial volume. In the bank accounts of one of the key figures in the case, a transaction volume of approximately 5 billion 408 million TL was detected. Money transfers among the suspects revealed the massive scale reached by the illegal activities.

One of the most striking pieces of evidence within the scope of the operation was a truck loaded with drugs, which was allowed to pass through the İpsala Border Gate. The moment the truck, which was not passed through an X-Ray device, was directly taken to the free zone was caught on camera. While 24 of the 37 detained suspects were arrested and sent to prison, efforts continue to capture the fugitive suspects.
