Internal Opposition Took Over in SYRIZA, High-Level Resignations Came One After Another

Following the crisis in SYRIZA, one of the main opposition parties in Greece, it was reported that the party's internal opposition officially took control during the Political Secretariat meeting. Immediately after the decision was made, numerous high-level party officials resigned from their positions to join the new political initiative of former Prime Minister Aleksis Çipras.

As a result of this intense wave of resignations and intra-party divisions, SYRIZA decided to turn a new page to maintain its current structure and continue its activities. In his statement, Pavlos Polakis expressed that the party is ready with its own program for the upcoming elections. He also confirmed that a new parliamentary group leader will be elected through a vote by the deputies and that he will be a candidate for this position.

The continuous committee meetings to be held in the coming days will determine the party's future and how its new political era will be shaped. The experienced separations are expected to significantly change SYRIZA's current number of deputies in the parliament and to intensify the intra-party struggle.
