Transilvanya Otoyolu Reaches 78 Percent Completion Rate: Expected to Be Completed This Year

Physical progress in the 3A2 subsection between Nădășelu and Mihăiești of the Transilvanya Otoyolu, one of Romanya's significant infrastructure projects, has reached 78 percent. Authorities and the contractor firm anticipate that this section can be completed by the end of the year if the current work pace continues. An official site visit was conducted by Cluj İli Valisi Maria Forna, CNAIR Regional Director Eugen Cecan, and representatives of the construction company to evaluate the latest status at the construction site. During this visit, the current stage of the project, encountered challenges, and future planning were discussed in detail. The completion of this section is of great importance for the region's transportation network.

The total investment amount of the project is approximately 995 million Ron (RON), excluding VAT. The construction works are undertaken by a consortium formed by OZALTIN, Ilgaz, and Visio Construction Works. It is stated that a route change of 5,96 kilometers was made in the project to avoid passing through lands with geotechnical problems in the Gârbău and Sânpaul regions. Such soil problems pose serious risks in terms of both cost and safety in large-scale infrastructure investments like highways. Thanks to this route change, it is aimed that the road will be more durable and maintenance costs will be reduced in the long run.

One of the most striking structural elements of the highway section in question is the Nădășelu Viaduct, which has a total length exceeding 1.210 meters and consists of 27 spans. This massive structure consists of two parallel bridges built side by side. Another important structure of the project is the second viaduct, which is approximately 2.000 meters long and intersects the existing highway, the Topa Mică creek, and the DN1F road. The second viaduct is designed with 50 different spans to adapt to the complex topography of the region. The completion of both viaducts plays a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted and safe transportation in the region.

Although the contract for this massive infrastructure project was signed in Haziran 2024, actual construction work began in Ağustos 2025. According to the official contract, the delivery date of the project is set for 1 Şubat 2027, but the current work pace at the site indicates that the project could be completed much earlier than planned. Authorities express optimism that this section could be opened to traffic within the year if conditions proceed favorably. This situation brings up the possibility of the long-awaited transportation relief in the region arriving early.

Cluj İli Valisi Maria Forna emphasized the strategic importance of the project not only for transportation but also for regional economic development following the site inspection. Governor Forna stated that the governor's office will continue to provide all necessary administrative support for the smooth progress of this major investment. This completed section of the Transilvanya Otoyolu is expected to significantly relieve commercial logistics and daily transportation in the Cluj region. Citizens and drivers in the region anticipate that travel times will shorten and traffic safety will increase once the highway section becomes operational.
