Major forest fires in Athens and Evia Island: evacuations and intense intervention

Major forest fires broke out in the Tiva area northwest of Athens and around Karystos on Evia Island.

As strong winds spread the flames, residents and tourists were urgently evacuated from three settlements on the island. Authorities called on the public in two more villages to be ready to leave.
