Illegal Betting Operation in 45 Provinces: 190 Suspects Detained

In a simultaneous operation conducted in 45 provinces, centered in Gaziantep, a major blow was dealt to an illegal betting syndicate. In the operation coordinated by the General Directorate of Security Cyber Crime Department, MASAK, and Chief Public Prosecutor's Offices, 190 suspects were detained.

According to investigation data, suspects were allowing users to place bets via overseas-based betting sites and establishing an agency system. It was determined that the suspects, who are members of the criminal organization, established an organized structure by providing IBANs to process transactions on these sites.

Account movements obtained from MASAK were analyzed with an artificial intelligence-supported data analysis program. The conducted analyses revealed that 3 million 127 thousand 307 transactions were made and a transaction volume of 84 billion 293 million 213 thousand TL was reached in bank accounts. Numerous digital materials belonging to the suspects were seized while judicial processes are ongoing.
