Fire at US vehicle auction site: More than 50 vehicles rendered unusable

A massive fire broke out in the early hours of Thursday at a facility in Templeton, Massachusetts, where vehicles damaged by smoke and water were being auctioned. According to fire officials responding to the scene, more than 50 vehicles were completely destroyed and rendered unusable as a result of the fire. While fire crews were directed to the Insurance Auto Auctions facility on Baldwinville Road, it was stated that the fire initially affected approximately 12 vehicles and grew rapidly, damaging 60 vehicles by the time it was brought under control. The explosion sounds caused by the bursting of tires and airbags of burning vehicles during the fire created worrying moments for residents in the area and made the work of the fire crews difficult.

The fire was first reported just after midnight, around 02:00, and a state of emergency was declared by the Templeton Fire Department, requesting support from the Gardner fire department. When the fire crew began operations to control and extinguish the fire, they observed that the flames had already spread and the severity of the situation had increased. Not only Templeton and Gardner crews were dispatched to the scene, but also fire crews from neighboring regions Hubbardston, Westminster, Phillipston, and Barre were sent to provide support. The crews, working in strong cooperation, managed to fully bring the fire under control by 05:00 in the morning after approximately three hours of intensive work.

Although the material damage caused by the fire was significant, the fact that there were no human casualties was the only comforting aspect of the incident. In a statement made by fire officials, it was shared that no personnel or firefighters were injured during the fire and that no damage was mediated to neighboring buildings or surrounding structures. Additionally, after the fire was brought under control, the work to make the scene safe for cleaning and inspections was completed at 07:00 in the morning and the field was evacuated. This process shows that the authorities were able to manage the situation quickly and averted a potential larger catastrophe.

According to information on the facility's website where the fire occurred, there was a vehicle sale event scheduled for Thursday morning for this auction house in Templeton. However, no clear statement has been made to the public by company officials regarding whether this major fire took place as planned or was canceled.
