Hammer and knife attack in Adana: Afghan suspect caught

In the grave incident that occurred on 12 July in the Çukurova district of Adana, D.G., an Afghan national, attacked K.C., with whom she lived, with a hammer and a knife in their home. Allegedly, the verbal argument that started due to jealousy quickly turned into physical violence, causing moments of terror.

K.C., who tried to escape by fleeing the house, was caught by the suspect at the entrance of the apartment building and was severely injured. Following the incident, detectives from the Homicide Bureau dispatched to the area tracked the suspect's trail by examining security camera footage. D.G., who fled and hid in a shack in the Yumurtalık district, was caught red-handed in an operation conducted by police teams.

The suspect, taken into custody, confessed to the attack in her statement at the police station, but claimed she did not remember her subsequent actions. Arrested by the judicial authorities on the charge of 'attempted intentional homicide', D.G.'s actions brought the concerns regarding violence against women and personal safety in the region back to the agenda.
