Teams from the Antalya Police Department's Smuggling and Organized Crime Branch dealt a heavy blow to criminal hubs through large-scale operations conducted across the province over the past week. As part of these successful operations, carried out with determination by security forces, numerous suspects were apprehended and referred to judicial authorities. In particular, three suspects, identified as being involved in the crime of establishing an organization to commit crimes, were swiftly detained. Following the conclusion of their court proceedings, these suspects were arrested and sent to prison. Law enforcement announced that they will continue to show zero tolerance to any criminal organization attempting to disrupt public peace in the province.

Efforts to combat historical artifact smuggling constituted a significant part of the operations. Teams caught a suspect red-handed violating Law No. 2863 on the Protection of Cultural and Natural Assets, taking a critical step in the preservation of cultural heritage. During detailed searches, a total of 146 historical coins and 56 artifacts were seized. While a judicial control measure was imposed on the detained suspect during their prosecution process, police tightened inspections to prevent such crimes. Authorities emphasized that cultural assets, the common heritage of the nation, will never be allowed to be smuggled abroad or traded illegally.

Conducting a highly effective operation to strike a blow against illicit trade, the Antalya Police carried out simultaneous raids in different districts. Illicit tobacco and alcohol trafficking networks were exposed through these comprehensive joint operations in the Muratpaşa, Kepez, Konyaaltı, Manavgat, and Alanya districts. Judicial proceedings were initiated against ten suspects in a total of seven separate incidents, delivering a major blow to the illegal economy. Materials seized during the raids included 2,539 packs of cigarettes, 6 kilograms of tobacco, and 35.5 liters of illicit alcohol, effectively removing these health-threatening products from the market.

As part of the same operations, security forces also placed great importance on apprehending individuals wanted for various crimes other than smuggling. As a result of meticulous intelligence work and simultaneous operations conducted by teams in the field, two more individuals, against whom finalized arrest warrants had been issued, were caught red-handed. These individuals were subsequently referred to the courthouse by the judicial authorities that received them for necessary processing. Thus, these operations, which highly disrupted the peace of wanted individuals in the region as well, eliminated potential threats to public security.

The Antalya Police Department announced to the public that these successful operations resulted in a total of 16 detentions within a week, and that the fight against crime will continue decisively in all areas. Along with combating smuggling and organized crime, the apprehension of wanted suspects reduced crime rates in the region and prevented criminal organizations from creating such a strong climate of fear. Police officials added that inspections and operations will continue without slowing down in order to ensure public peace and security. Such comprehensive operations not only reinforce the safety of the local public but also help maintain economic balance by preventing unfair competition in commercial markets.
