In Belçika, the Interregional Environment Unit (Celine) has reactivated the warning phase of the "extreme temperature and ozone peaks" plan that was lifted two days ago. According to the announcement made on Cumartesi afternoon, the decision was made upon meeting the determined temperature criteria again. Officials predict a significant increase in air temperatures for the next five days based on the forecasts presented by the Royal Meteorological Institute (IRM). The temperature in the Uccle region is expected to reach 28°C on pazartesi and increase further in the following days. This meteorological data has made it mandatory for officials to reactivate measures against the heat wave.

According to the Royal Meteorological Institute's forecasts, the sum of the differences between the maximum temperatures to be measured over the next five days and the threshold value of 25°C has reached or exceeded 17°C. This meteorological calculation method clearly demonstrates that the temperature values in the region will consistently remain above seasonal norms. The temperatures, which are forecasted to be 28°C on pazartesi in Uccle, are expected to gradually increase in the later days of the week. Experts state that such temperature calculations form the basis of early warning systems and are of great importance for the protection of public health. The expected temperature values indicate that the effects of the summer season will be felt intensely across the region throughout the next week.

Although high temperatures are generally a factor that can trigger low-level ozone accumulation, this time meteorological conditions such as wind and air circulation do not allow the formation of ozone peaks. This situation gives hope that the negative effects of the heat wave on public health may remain limited. Nevertheless, officials state that air quality continues to be closely monitored and that immediate intervention will be made in case of a possible change.

The procedure implemented within the scope of Belçika's hot weather and ozone management plan consists of three main stages: attention phase, warning phase, and alarm phase. The warning phase in question follows a basic attention phase and can be followed by an alarm phase where much more comprehensive measures are taken if deemed necessary. Due to the temperature fluctuations experienced in recent weeks, the phases of this plan have been frequently activated and deactivated. The previous warning phase of the plan was activated on 15 Haziran and was lifted about two days ago when conditions eased. Furthermore, the alarm phase, which is the highest level of the plan, was previously implemented on 23 Haziran due to temperatures reaching much more threatening levels.
