Embezzlement operation at Bolu Belediyesi: Private Office Director arrested

As part of an investigation carried out by the Bolu Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, which appears will keep the city's agenda busy for a long time, a new operational step was taken targeting Bolu Belediyesi and its affiliated subsidiary companies. In the operation, which was carried out simultaneously by gendarmerie teams on the morning of 1 July and characterized as the 6th wave of the investigation, a decision for detention was issued against a large number of suspects facing grave accusations such as 'embezzlement' and 'laundering of asset values derived from crime'.

Within the scope of the operation carried out, comprehensive searches were conducted at the private residences of the suspects and their work offices in the municipal building, and numerous documents and digital materials considered to constitute elements of crime were seized. As the investigation deepened, the total number of suspects rose to 12, including those detained in the first operation and other individuals called to give statements, and these individuals were referred to the judicial authorities after the completion of their statements at the İl Jandarma Komutanlığı.

The fate of the 12 suspects, who were brought before the duty penal judge of peace following the judicial processes and prosecutor's procedures, became clear. In the trial held by the court, a decision was made to release 11 suspects, including managers and personnel, under judicial control conditions, while the detention and sending of the focal point of the operation to prison did not go unnoticed.

The detained person was Özel Kalem Müdürü Özgür Nihat Yıldız, the most critical figure of the investigation and also the Bolu Belediyesi Şirketleri Genel Müdürlüğü. For Yıldız, a detention decision was made by the court due to the accusations of 'embezzlement' and 'laundering of asset values derived from crime' in the indictment prepared against him, and he was placed in prison.

This development is considered significant in that it shows the increasing legal pressure and supervision on the Bolu local administration. The fact that other personnel in the municipal subsidiaries were released brings to mind that the scope of the investigation proceeds over the main heading and that other individuals' involvement in the incident or evidence status differs, while Yıldız's arrest revealed how serious dimensions the process has reached.
