Fatal traffic accident in Çankırı: 3 dead, 4 injured

A tragic traffic accident that occurred in the Kızılırmak district of Çankırı has caused deep sorrow in the region. This afternoon, two vehicles collided violently on the Çankırı-Kızılırmak highway near the Bozkır village junction. The vehicles involved in the accident were the automobile with license plate 16 ALY 258 driven by İzzet Gümüşbuğa and the light commercial vehicle with license plate 06 HD 7613 driven by Remzi Akdemir. This fatal collision on the roadside resulted in the loss of three lives and injuries to four individuals, according to initial determinations.

The moment of the accident and the subsequent events prompted local authorities and emergency aid teams to launch a rapid intervention operation. Upon notification, a large number of ambulances, gendarmerie, and fire crews were dispatched from Çankırı central headquarters. The efforts of the teams involved an intensive struggle to clarify the situation of the deceased and the critically injured in the area where the accident occurred. It was reported that there were injured people trapped in the vehicles due to the severity of the crash, necessitating the use of special equipment by the fire crews.

The identities of the deceased and the painful scene at the site revealed the extent of the horrific accident. At the time of the accident, 43-year-old automobile driver İzzet Gümüşbuğa and 12-year-old Hasan Salih Gümüşbuğa, who was in the same vehicle, unfortunately lost their lives at the scene. Meanwhile, 5-year-old Abdullah, 9-year-old Esma Betül, and 30-year-old Çiğdem Gümüşbuğa, who were in the same vehicle, along with the driver of the other vehicle, Remzi Akdemir, were taken to the hospital as injured. The fact that some of the injured remained in critical condition despite emergency interventions confirmed the tragic loss, including deaths at the hospital.

The treatment processes of the injured at the hospital and the health outcomes revealed the dimensions of the disaster once again. Remzi Akdemir, the driver of the other vehicle who was among those taken to Çankırı State Hospital, could not be saved despite the doctors' efforts and passed away. This loss raised the death toll of the accident to three. On the other hand, it was learned that the condition of the injured children, Abdullah and Esma Betül Gümüşbuğa, was serious, and therefore their treatment continued under intensive care conditions. It was stated that the health conditions of other individuals among the injured were being monitored.

The physical consequences caused by the accident and its impact on traffic flow were also assessed. Due to the severity of the collision, the vehicles became unusable, and the road was closed to traffic for a period. After long efforts, the injured were extracted and the vehicles were removed from the road. Following the completion of these procedures, the Çankırı-Kızılırmak highway was safely reopened to traffic. Authorities stated that the investigation into the definitive cause of the accident was ongoing and that judicial and administrative processes had been initiated regarding the incident.
