Forensic Medicine report in the Ahmet Çalık murder in Eskişehir: Defendant's criminal capacity is full

In the case regarding the brutal murder of Ahmet Çalık last year in the Çifteler district of Eskişehir, the report of the Forensic Medicine Institution was submitted to the court. The report stated that Yalçın Namal, who is being tried for murdering the victim by beating him with an iron bar after hitting him with his vehicle, is of sound mind and has full criminal capacity. While the prosecutor demanded that the defendant be punished within the scope of 'premeditated murder' (TCK 81), it was decided to continue his detention.

The defendant Yalçın Namal, who made his defense at the hearing, did not accept the charges and requested his acquittal and release. It was learned that in his previous statements, Namal claimed that he thought the victim was practicing witchcraft. The court panel gave the defendant's lawyer time to prepare his written defense and adjourned the hearing to 16 Temmuz 2026.

The lawyer of the victim's family objected to the prosecutor's opinion, arguing that the act should be evaluated within the scope of 'killing with monstrous feeling and by torture' (TCK 82). The lawyer stated that the vehicle was driven over Çalık repeatedly and no bones were left unbroken in his body, announcing that they would fight for the defendant to be punished with a heavier charge.
