Photographer Da'Shaunae Marisa: Grief and the Importance of Roots

Photographer and filmmaker Da'Shaunae Marisa took the stage in the shape of a flower at the Nicer Tuesdays event in Los Angeles to share her creative journey. She shared the process from her early interest in photography to a successful photojournalism career centering on the beauty of Black life in America. In her talk, she also mentioned her giant Rubik's Cube installation and her work focusing on the importance of grief.

Da'Shaunae Marisa stated that she discovered her passion for photography during her childhood and that this interest gradually evolved into a professional career. She specifically focused on documenting the daily lives and cultural heritage of Black communities.
