Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office appoints an expert committee for Ahbap's earthquake donations

The Istanbul Republic Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating all aspects of the use of donations and aid collected by the Ahbap Association following the February 6, 2023 Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes. Within the scope of the investigation, it is aimed to determine whether the collected donations were used in accordance with the determined purposes and the relevant legislation.

In order to uncover the material truth, an expert committee consisting of specialized individuals was appointed. The committee will examine all financial records, bank account movements, and money transfers regarding the collection, transfer, and expenditure of the donations. The detailed report to be prepared as a result of the examination will be evaluated together with other evidence obtained in the investigation.

In the statement made by the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, it was emphasized that the process is being conducted based on the rule of law and the presumption of innocence. In addition, it was stated that the investigation continues only in line with concrete information, documents, and evidence.
