Armed Attack on Woman at Istanbul Çekmeköy Mall: Crime Scene in Chaos

A horrific armed attack occurred in the evening hours at the Metrogarden Alışveriş Merkezi (AVM) located in the Çekmeköy district of Istanbul.

Two masked attackers arriving by vehicle at the scene targeted a 53-year-old woman sitting in a cafe inside the AVM and started firing at close range.

As a result of the fire opened by the attackers, the woman was seriously injured by two bullets hitting her body, and moments of chaos were experienced with the intervention of those around.

A 19-year-old youth present at the scene during the shooting was also among those affected and slightly injured during the stampede and harsh intervention caused by the heavy crowds.

Health teams who quickly arrived at the scene took the woman, who had collapsed in a pool of blood, and the injured youth to a nearby hospital by ambulance for treatment after initial intervention.

Police teams launched a wide-scale investigation and search operation to apprehend the two suspects who fled the scene quickly after the attack and to examine security camera footage.
