10 life sentences for father and 22.5 years in prison for mother demanded in Kahramanmaraş school attack

The investigation into the armed attack carried out at Ayser Çalık Secondary School in Kahramanmaraş on 15 April, which resulted in the deaths of 10 people, has been completed. For the detained father of the attacker, İsa Aras Mersinli, 10 counts of aggravated life imprisonment and up to 30 years in prison were demanded for the crime of 'killing with probable intent', while up to 22.5 years in prison was requested for the mother for the crime of 'causing the death and injury of more than one person through conscious negligence'.

According to the 44-page indictment, Mersinli went to the school with his father's firearms and fired at many people in a short time. During the attack, when a guidance teacher thought the sounds were a transformer explosion and cut the electricity, the security cameras were disabled for 22 minutes; during this time, the attacker continued his action in classroom 5/D. The incident ended when four people from outside caught and neutralized the attacker.

In the investigation, it was revealed that before the action, the attacker shared his attack plan with six different people via Discord and TikTok, and rehearsed it in a school environment in the game Roblox. In the computer examination, it was determined that there was the manifesto of Eric Harris, who carried out school attacks in the USA, and similar content.
