Tears flood Istanbul after siblings die on the same day

At the center of this tragic event lies the story of the Tunç siblings, originally from Meydan village in Çınar district of Diyarbakır and continuing their lives in Istanbul. 61-year-old Sultan Tunç tried to hold on to life despite fighting the merciless disease for a while, but had to lose her life struggle in the hospital despite all doctors' efforts. While Sultan Tunç's loss caused deep mourning in the family, the worse occurred while being informed. İzzet Tunç, 77, who was being treated at a different hospital for shortness of breath and other ailments during the same period, was informed by health personnel that his sister had passed away.

Facing the destructive impact of shock and sadness at the moment of receiving the bitter news, İzzet Tunç's condition worsened immediately. The elderly man, who had a fragile constitution due to old age and chronic health problems, closed his eyes to life in the hospital room within a few hours, unable to bear his sibling's death. It was determined that the emotional trauma he experienced weakened his physical health severely and led to his heart stopping. In this way, the Tunç family witnessed a bitter end with the pain of bidding farewell to both a sister and an elder brother they lost while mourning him on the same day, in the same city but at different hospitals.

Loved ones gathered at Soğanlık Cemetery in the Kartal district on the southeast side of Istanbul to receive forgiveness for both Sultan and İzzet Tunç. Following the completion of the funeral prayers, the Tunç siblings were sent off on their final journey together and were laid to rest side by side at Kartal Soğanlık Cemetery.
