Kazakhstan Completes Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic Cable Project

Kazakhstan has completed the most challenging stage of the Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic Cable Project. The project will connect Asia and Europe with a high-speed digital corridor. The submarine cable, which will directly connect the digital infrastructure of Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan, was laid on the bottom of the Caspian Sea between Aktau and Sumgait.

The project is being implemented by Kazakhtelecom and AzerTelecom International. The submarine cable is a special type of cable produced in China. The completion of the project will strengthen Kazakhstan's digital connectivity and lay the foundation for the development of artificial intelligence, cloud technologies, and modern data centers.

The next stage of the project will be to connect the cable to the coastal infrastructure. The completion of the ground infrastructure, commissioning, and system testing is expected this autumn.
